C.M. Cooper refers to herself as a "contemporary traditionalist". Her impressionistic paintings blend classic aesthetics with the modern figure. Women, children, dancers and animals in contemporary settings come to life through her bold brush strokes. Born and raised in Southern California, C.M. Cooper earned a B.F.A. from Pasadena's Art Center College of Design. A career in fashion advertising followed, along with freelance work in editorial illustration. Travels to Europe -- including an opportunity to live and study in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux Arts -- changed her focus towards a fine art career. Her training continued at the Associates in Arts Masters Program and four years of study with Joseph Mendez. Rare opportunities to observe and study under highly respected artists Howard Terpning and Raymond Everett Kinsler further enhanced her artistic abilities and vision. C.M. Cooper is an award-winning member of the American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America. Her work has been featured in SouthwestArt Magazine and International Artist Magazine. Museum exhibitions include the Pasadena Museum of History, Pasadena Museum of California Art and the Springfield Museum of Art, Illinois.
