Bruce Sanford Day’s artistic career began at age six when his grandfather, a listed early 20th artist, bought his first artist materials. He continued studying fine art through high school and in the Air Force, when upon completion, entered Monterey Peninsula College in 1968 as a fine art major. He subsequently transferred to Art Center College of Design where he studied under Professors Lauser Feitleson and Harry Carmean. Known for his vivid depictions of the often vanishing California landscape, Bruce Sanford Day’s paintings have been exhibited in the Pasadena Museum of History, the Pasadena Museum of California Art, the Bowers Museum, Anaheim Museum, Long Beach Museum and the San Bernardino County Museum. Bruce Sanford Day’s works are in the permanent collections of the Bowers Museum, the Joan Irvine Smith-Irvine Ranch Land Trust, Descanso Gardens Guild for the Permanent Collection of the Historic Brody House and the San Gabriel Country Club. He is an Artist Member of the California Art Club.
