Italian engraver Andrea Cangemi was born in S.Lorenzo a Merse Monticiano near Siena in 1951. He entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata where he obtained a degree in painting and then deepened his knowledge of etching studying with Walter Piacesi and Renzo Vespignani. He started his artistic activity in 1972, winning first prize for drawing at the "Ill Trofeo di Pittura, Scultura e Grafica" at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome. Over the years he took part in the most important and prestigious etching exhibitions, both national (Italian) and European. His etching works appear in the graphics collection of the Pinacoteca Civica di Fermo, in the "Civica Raccolta dele Stampe Achille Bertarelli" in Milan, in the "Sezione Incisori Marchigiani" of the Pinacoteca Civica in S. Elpidio a Mare, in the "Gabinetto Stampe Moderne" in the city of Bagnacavallo, in the collection "Alberto Sartori" in Mantua, at the Cultural Foundation "Il Pellicano" in Trasanni (Urbino), at the "Calcografia Nacional Real Academia de Bellas Artes De San Fernando" in Madrid, at the "Archivio dell'Incisione Bolognese/Centro Studi Giorgio Morandi" and at the Foundation CARISBO in Bologna.
